Ovarian Cancer
Nearly 22,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. Though the symptoms are often vague and ovarian cancer is difficult to detect, when found early outcomes can be improved. Across Middle Tennessee, the Baptist Hospital team is helping women recognize the early signs of ovarian cancer.
Surgery and chemotherapy are generally the first course of treatment for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Our team of specialists will determine the best course of treatment for each individual based on a variety of factors, including: the size of the tumor, the stage of the cancer, the patient's age, overall health and desire to have children. Cervical Cancer
Due to women receiving annual pap smears, the occurence of cervical cancer has fallen to about 12,000 women per year. It is very important to get an annual pap smear. This test can detect precancerous cells, and then a physician can remove them before they become cancer.
If diagnosed with cervical cancer, the best course of treatment will depend on a number of factors, including the size of the tumor, the stage of the cancer, and the patient's age, oervall health and desire to have children. You should discuss all of these issues with your physician.
Uterine Cancer
The primary course of treatment for women with uterine cancer is a hysterectomy, and may include a variety of radiation therapy options and/or hormone therapy. Utilizing the most advanced technologies, the Baptist Hospital team of specialists will work with each patient on an individual basis to determine the best course of treatment for the most successful outcome.
