

Research has shown the importance of good blood sugar control prior to pregnancy in order to have the best outcomes for you and your baby. How to reach your target blood sugar goals and maintain good glucose control will be covered in this visit. This program includes:
This program provides instruction and management per Diabetes Center protocols and 24hr call support. Blood sugars reviewed twice weekly by clinician and medication adjusted per protocol. Hemoglobin AIC ordered every 3 months until target of <7 obtained. Information will be communicated to your primary referring physician.
A blood glucose meter will be provided to you in class. A follow-up visit will be scheduled after completeing the class to review your blood sugar, food diaries, lab work and answer any questions. (Follow up visit is to evaluate effectiveness of education and is an American Diabetes Association Certification requirement.)
