At Baptist Hospital, we are committed to taking care of patients and their families physically, emotionally and spiritually. Our mission calls us to provide holistic care, which sustains and improves the health of individuals and communities.
The Pastoral Services staff includes five chaplains, 10 chaplain volunteers and one full-time resident, who are of varying faith traditions. They are available on-site Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on weekends from 1 to 9:30 p.m. A chaplain is always on-call.
A variety of pastoral services are available for patients, family members and hospital staff, including:
- Worship service held very Wednesday at noon in The Virgil and Nancy Moore Family Chapel and Rev. Charlie M. Curb Sanctuary. The service is also televised in patient rooms.
- Morning prayer service on Mondays and Thursdays and an evening prayer service on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both services are held in the fifth floor prayer room. A prayer room is also located adjacent to the chapel and is meant to be a place of comfort for all faith traditions.
- Personal pastoral visits for patients from the pastoral care team.
- Pastoral counseling.
- Liaison for patients to reach a minister of their faith.
- The Serenity Garden, an outdoor space created as a place for patients, families and associates to find peace and tranquility. The garden is located on the first floor of the hospital.
